PETER ALTON BIOGRAPHY - Director of Photography, Editor, Writer, Narrator
Peter grew up in Chatham, New Jersey, a suburb of New York City. His first film, Who Killed Jon Schwartz? , received an almost violent ovation from students at The Pingry School.
At Northwestern University, Peter's claymation short Robert: Portrait of a Legend , the biography of an aging clay film star, won the Student Emmy. It has since aired on television in the United States and Australia. Running from Hollywood after a near-fatal brush with success, Peter hid in Prague, Czech Republic for several years, where he wrote, started acting, and hung out at cafes a lot.
In 1999, Peter returned to Los Angeles to quickly take control. He spent several years doing no-pay theater, as well as a dizzying array of low-paying jobs.
In 2002, the short film Pete wrote and directed, Les Superficiales , the chronicles of a 1960's Parisian street gang, played at Clermont-Ferrand, the Deauville Festival of American Film, Flickerfest Australia, and more. Canal Plus purchased the film for European broadcast.
In 2003, Peter wrote and edited Beef and Beef 2 , the comprehensive history of conflict in rap music. Beef is a triple-platinum-selling DVD and has aired on VH1. He also wrote and starred in Manfish, a short film about a scientist and his half-man half-fish creation.
In 2004, Peter's script Mister Dunbury's Exotic Lunatic Caravan , won 2 nd place at Cinequest in San Jose. Peter spent his $1000 prize money quickly. Backseat Bingo , edited by Peter Alton, is an animated documentary about the sex lives of senior citizens. The film has screened at nearly 50 festivals.
He is currently writing and editing HOSOI , the life story of legendary skateboarder Christian Hosoi, and trying to produce and direct Les Superficiales , the feature film.
Peter currently lives in Los Angeles, with his roommate, Joe Fria, who had to deal with Lollilove at high volume in their living room for the better part of 2004.
